Equipment: Babcock E-10 Ring Roller Mill Coal Pulverizer
Problem:
Coal enters the mill and is pulverized between a ring and multiple roller wheels. The crushed coal particles are then carried upward by high temperature air flow into a classifier. Air inlet temperature is in the range of 200 to 220ºC (392 to 428ºF).
Severe abrasion from high velocity coal particles resulted in rapid wear of the Densit coating (fiber-reinforced cement) used on the grinding chamber hot air inlet ring.
