Rod and Piston Seals

The function of a rod seal is to act as a pressure barrier and minimize fluid bypass along the dynamic rod or ram and the static stuffing box under various operating conditions. It regulates fluid film during extension of the cylinder rod.

The function of a piston seal is to minimize fluid bypass between the piston head and cylinder bore under various operating conditions and to act as a pressure barrier. It helps to maintain system efficiency and plays an important role in controlling the cylinder motion and maintaining position.

Chesterton has a number of rod and piston sealing solutions to meet equipment needs in hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders, rams, and other equipment.
